Just a few notes from AMAE

October 2010

Mark your calendar!

Plans are already under way for our Winter recital.  Right now we are sched-uled at Steinway Music in Maryland Heights for Saturday (check with instructors for times), December 18.  Keep an eye out for more details as the date draws near—and keep practicing that Christmas music that has been assigned to you!

Wedding Bells are ringing

Congratulations to our own Catherine Dudley--piano, strings, and acting teacher--who was married in Central Park in New York on October 2!  Catherine is now back from her honeymoon, and hopefully will be able to find time to schedule another one of her popular acting classes.  Please let us know if you would be interested!

Art classes are back

As sad as we were to see Miss Nicole head off to graduate school, Kathleen Myers, a retired school teacher and amateur artist, joined our staff in August.  In addition to children’s art classes after school on Monday and Tuesday and Saturday morning, Kathleen is also offering tutoring in most subject areas on an “as needed” basis.  Kathleen has taught both English and Social Studies at the high school and middle school level, and has tutored grade school and middle school students in most other subjects. She is also certified to provide instruction for students who use English as their second language. Art classes are $65 a month for weekly classes, and tutoring is available for $25 an hour.  An ACT prep is tentatively planned for the Fall.

Halloween Recital

Be sure to leave this date open!  On October 29, AMAE will present their Halloween Recital here at the studio, beginning at 7:00 pm.  Dress in costume if you like!  Our art students are planning to decorate one of the windows with “monster” instruments, and a snack table will be set up for any ghoulish delights you might wish to share.

New Instructor

In an effort to meet the growing demand for guitar instruction, AMAE is pleased to also introduce Jeremy Novak as an additional teacher.  Jeremy has a BA in Music from Southwest Missouri State University, as well as 20 graduate credits from Webster University.  If you had wanted to take guitar but could not find a convenient time slot, please check with us to see if Jeremy’s schedule might fit your needs.  He has times available on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.  We also have a couple slots open with Mel on Tuesday and Larry on Saturday.

Please and Thank you

Please remember to note the student’s and teacher’s name in the memo space on your check so that we can properly credit your tuition payment.  We do have some students with the same last nameJ

And please, please, get those payments in on time so that we can pay our wonderful instructors on time.  Late fee is $15.00 if not paid the first week of the month.
